Last week a team of four people from Temotu Province arrived to begin recording with the SITAG Media Team. They plan to be here for two to three months working on an audio version of New Testament in their heart language, Natqgu.

The island is quite far away, about 400 miles.

While here, the team is lodging with SITAG at the Training Centre. The Training Centre has 12 dorm rooms, bathrooms, a spacious kitchen, and a large dining hall. During the morning work break, SITAG staff fellowship together in the dining hall and have tea time together. Quite regularly, if visiting teams are able to break away from their work, they will join SITAG staff for tea time.

The cook keeping bellies full

Some ministries are able to budget in funds to hire a cook to help prepare meal(s) for those who have traveled in to Honiara to work. The current cook is responsible for making the big lunch meal. Because of her hard work, the Media Team and the “4 Voices” are able enjoy a lunch break together around noon without having to spend additional time procuring or preparing the food. I am in charge of making sure the cook has the food she needs, and that additional food is available for the visitors to make themselves breakfast and dinner on a daily basis. Sometimes I get to surprise them with a little treat, like ring cakes (they look like cake donuts, with no frosting)! I also make sure they have another small tea break at 3 pm.

The Media Team has six team members who are fully trained in all areas needed to produce audio and visual Bible materials. They work hard to get God’s Word into the hearts and minds of people all over the Solomons.

When the light is on, a light also turns on upstairs (in our house) to let us know they are recording and which reminds us to keep jumping jacks and other loud noises to a minimum 😉

It is so cool and such a privilege to get to help in small ways around SITAG to support the work of Bible translation–even that going on under our house, haha! It is very exciting to be involved in a ministry that gets God’s Word out into the hearts of Solomon Islanders.
