Laundry 🧺

The speed at which I find myself flying through life these days is a little dizzying. I have reached a level of “normal” here in this new land, but the amount of time it takes to get things done still surprises me.

🥭Market trip🍌

Going to the market is a blast. I love shopping for yummy fruits and vegetables. 🍊🍋🍌🍉🍈🥭🍍🥥🍅🍆🥑🥬🥒🌶🫑🧄🧅🥔🍠 Once I arrive home with my market “haul”, I have an hour, at least, of cleaning and putting everything away.

💜Community💜

Everything in the Solomons revolves around relationships. People take priority. It is a wonderful way to live 🥰✝️, but also makes everyday tasks that much harder to complete, sometimes.

♟Chess ♟

Aaron has helped start a ♟chess club♟ on SITAG campus. They meet twice a week in the evenings and at Tea Break a game or two will commence. In the above picture, they aren’t actually playing chess, they are playing “Kings” (like checkers) and Aaron is getting spanked!

Papaya and Goofiness

Amidst all the work is plenty of “play”. Dad is in and out of the house through out the day, visitors come and go. There is plenty to entertain (or distract from school😏). Finding giant papayas in the market is a perk of living in the Solomons 🇸🇧.

Stuffed Pumpkin

I really love to cook! It is so fun to find yummy things to make with the market goods we find. Pictured here is stuffed pumpkin, my version of a classic Motu recipe here in the Solomons. Here in the Solomon Islands 🇸🇧 they use a motu (outside earth oven) to cook pumpkin with tuna, green onion, and fresh squeezed coconut 🥥 milk inside. It is so yummy!

Kids Ministry

Abigail has started volunteering with the kids Sunday school at church. On Saturday the whole Sunday School class dressed in white and black and went to a CF Rally with many other church Sunday School classes.

Jelly Fish Stings

Aaron and Andrew went with the youth group to the beach on Saturday. They had a great time! Unfortunately, millions of tiny jellyfish also went to that particular beach! Aaron decided to stay out of the water most of the time, and came away with only a few stings. Andrew, on the other hand thought the water fun was worth the little stings he was feeling. 2 days later he may or may not be regretting his choice. 😬

“No See-ums” Season

And speaking of stings…and bites…We are thankful for our faithful “Bug Zapper” which works all night every night to keep the bug population around our house down a little bit. Tiny black bugs are in season now, and they are so small they can come through the screens on our windows. Their little bites itch so bad!!! And they love to eat me!

God is Faithful

And through it all, God is faithful. He leads, provides, sustains, and loves us through it all. At the end of the day, when I collapse into bed, I close my eyes, trusting in His goodness, and resting in His great love for me, knowing that His mercies are new every morning, and He is working all things out for my good and His good and perfect will. ✝️💟
